Nokia
today announced that the company and NTT DOCOMO, INC agree to cooperate in
research and standardization 5G technologies and work together to 5G proof of
concept ( PoC ) system.
The move follows a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU ) signed by the two companies in January 2014 to research future radio access experimental systems.
T0
meet the demand for extreme capacity and performance , the future 5G networks
must be overcome, problems that become important for operators such as ensuring
cell -edge rates exceeding 100 Mbps and a latency reduction factor of 10 Nokia
hands- on approach builds on innovation existing high technology, which enables
migration to higher bandwidth and ultra-fast mobile broadband.
NTT
DoCoMo - Nokia
"We
chose Nokia as our partner for the research project 5G based on its clear
vision, as well as her extensive mobile broadband experience and technology
leadership, " said Dr. Seizo Onoe, CTO of NTT DoCoMo.
Both
companies will continue to collaborate on research for future radio access
systems, with an initial focus on the potential of technology in millimeter
wave band 70 GHz spectrums. Experimental 5G PoC system will be implemented
using National Instruments (NI) baseband modules that make up the system state
-of-the -art rapid prototyping 5G air interfaces today.
"
Extending our relationship with NTT DoCoMo on 5G wireless technology is an
important step towards defining the future of m0bile netw0rks, " said
H0ssein Moiin , executive vice president and chief technology 0fficer netw0rk.
" Future wireless networks will connect not only people, but also machines
and objects, creating an effective overlay of virtual and physical worlds with
a huge variety of use cases. Together with industry, we need to make sure that
the technology offers 5G correct principles serve these applications flexibly
and profitably. "
Nokia
and NTT DoCoMo have a successful three - year history of collaborative research
on different technologies and standards, including joint work on 3G and LTE
from its early stage. Their work is supported LTE global market development
projects carried out in the research laboratories of NTT DoCoMo in Japan and
Europe . Thanks to Vision 2020 * future mobile networks and active
participation in global research and standardization technology 5G ** Nokia has
the expertise to support operators in their quest for the next generation of
mobile broadband.
