The
licensing of cellular operators of much trumpeted 3G, 4G technology can hit a
delay as successful bidders at auction last month yet to deposit tax.
According
to sources, Mobilink , Telenor, Zong and Ufone has to pay 10 percent pre- tax ,
a requirement for licensing . It was planned that all licenses will be issued
to successful companies 0n 10. May 2014.
PakistanTelecommunication Authority sources said that notices were issued to all four
companies from payment of tax. The Mobile companies have serious reservations
in advance tax of FBR .
They
also said that only Telenor had paid 50 percent of the bid amount. Mobilink to
pay $ 29500000 , Zong $ 58600000 , while Telenor and Ufone each have to pay $
14750000 as advance tax , added the sources.
During
PTA rules , companies can soft -launch 3G, 4G technology , but they can not
commercially charge their consumers, unless a permit is issued.
