FRANCISCO: Tech specialists in Silicon Valley debated on Friday whether Mozilla
CEO Brendan Eich got the comeuppance he merited or was himself a casualty of
narrow mindedness when he resigned under weight this week in the middle of
shock over his opposition to same-sex marriage.
Some, particularly a dating site that had urged its clients to blacklist Mozilla's popular Firefox web browser, cheered Eich's acquiescence after shot of what two weeks as CEO of the not-for-profit software organization. Others saw him as an exploited person and called his critics intolerant of people with diverse perspectives.
Eich finished not react to demands for remark on Friday, however, he had posted a statement of regret on his site before he resigned for the agony his stance had created. His perspectives about gay marriage had been known inside Mozilla for almost two years, however debate ejected after he was designated CEO in late March.
